UTSUWA TALK AND DINNER
Japanese food culture and utsuwa complement each other. Forms are chosen to fit the cuisine, where the bowl and the hand that holds it form a unity. Where the natural flavors of food harmonize with the simple form of a utensil made out of earth and fire. Where the esthetics of the food-vessel balance brings happiness to our daily meals.
The utsuwa on show at the exhibition are objects for daily use. We at MONO JAPAN hope that you will enjoy the sober elegance of utsuwa.
Together with Marika Groen from the Malicafe Organic Vegan Food Amsterdam we organize a dinner evening to taste original food served in their befitting utsuwa. The evening will be completed with a talk by 2 Dutch specialists on utsuwa.
On October 19th, Marika will cook a special seasonal dinner for us! It will be served on utsuwa of our exhibition. Our eyes and stomach will be surprised by the harmony between the vessels and the delicate taste of Marika’s dishes!
The buffet dinner will be preceded by a lecture on Japanese ceramics by Dick Stegewerns (Yoigokochi Sake Importers) and Hans Pillen (Craftsman). Please join us for this special event.

Marika is a Japanese chef/fermentation specialist, who teaches Koji making and traditional food preservation techniques at her “Malicafe Organic Vegan Food” studio in Amsterdam and trip destinations.
In her healthy meals, she fuses Eastern and Western cuisine in combination with using her homemade Miso, Shoyu, Sake and the like. Her fans and followers admire the esthetics of her dishes and the innovative use of ingredients in her menus.
